White Slave Auction
A unique opportunity to buy a piece of our CEO, CTO or Product Manager

By Heather Laine

Yes, that is correct. We are entering the white slave trade and selling off pieces of our top execs to support the Open Source Cause. For probably the only time in history, you can purchase Kevin Miller, Mark Waddingham or Ben Beaumont and make use of them in your business. Briefly! We want them back!

So, why should you care? What can these guys offer your business? Let's take a close look at their talents, qualifications and abilities.

Kevin MillerKevin "I'll do anything to support Open Source" Miller*

Position at RunRev: Chief Executive Officer.

What's on offer: 2 working days of his time, a total of 16 hours mentoring your business. Available via Skype or in person if you travel to our offices. Spread over the course of a year.

Cost: £4900/$7850 pledge level (don't forget this also includes the fabulous £640 bundle and the Enterprise level license. In fact we're practically giving these guys away free...)

Value proposition: Kevin has been driving RunRev forward since its inception in 1998, under its early "Cross Worlds Computing" title. He has learned about managing a business from the sharp end. He now has 15 years experience under his belt, and a successful growing business to show for it. He can advise you on anything from technical coding (he has a deep knowledge of LiveCode having written large chunks of the original IDE in and for LiveCode) to how to hire and keep the best staff.

Struggling to deal with recession? He's been there and thrived. Riding a crest and wanting to expand? Kevin is the master of expansion on a shoestring. Looking for more effective marketing strategies? From Ad Words to PR,he's been there, done that, and worked out optimums. Facing unexpected challenges in your chosen market? We've faced more of these than you've had hot dinners and Kevin has navigated us through every one.

Kevin loves figures. Show him a set of data and he'll show you a meaningful graph full of portent for your business. If you haven't got the data, he'll show you where and how to collect it. Are you bending under the pressure of running your own business? Nobody knows the stress you are under better. He will recommend you books and strategies to improve your business, your health, and your mental strength.

If you're starting up in business, you want this guy beside you, showing you the ropes. And if you've been in business for a while, you'll be amazed at the ropes he can show you that you never knew existed for you to pull on. This could be the best £4900 you ever invested in growing your business.

Mark WaddinghamMark "Orthogonal is a word" Waddingham

Position at RunRev: Chief Technical Officer

What's on offer: 2 days in our Edinburgh offices with Mark.

Cost: £4900/$7850

Value proposition: There are people in our community who speak the name of Mark Waddingham in hushed tones. He began programming at the tender age of 5, in BASIC on a ZX Spectrum. This is the man who, on the suggestion being made that LiveCode should run on iPhones, a few weeks later casually produced his iPhone and said, "well, I've got it working...just a proof of concept..." He has a deeper knowledge of the LiveCode engine than possibly anyone on the planet, and lives in a world of deep code and serious geek. At critical times he needs reminding to eat and sleep.

If you have a coding problem, want help with your app, would like guidance on contributing to the LiveCode source, want your pet bug fixed or a new feature written, Mark is your man. He is fluent in C/Obj-C/C++, LiveCode, Java, x86/ARM assembly language and familiar with a number of other languages. You'll be amazed what he can acheive in two days.

Mark is our goto man for such thorny questions as "Can LiveCode be made to run on Raspberry Pi?" (yes) or "could you please explain Open Language for our users" (read this blog post).

I have to point out that the supply of Mark Waddinghams is strictly limited - we have sold two already to discerning users, so there are only 3 left for you to snap up.

Ben BeaumontBenjamin "sheepherder by design" Beaumont

Position at RunRev: LiveCode Product Manager

What's on offer: 3 full days in our Edinburgh office with Ben.

Cost: £4900/$7850

Value proposition:Ben is our most eminent LiveCode Product Manager and as such he has an enviable knowledge of the intricacies of LiveCode. With 10 years of coding experience under his belt he is uniquely gifted with a flair for design as well as the logic essential for coding. Ben is particularly focused on UI and creating a great user experience, which is vital to the success of any app. Ben famously, rose to the challenge of producing an iPhone App in the shortest time possible with no previous experience and Sheep Herder was the result. Created in 3 hours it has now had almost 500,000 views on YouTube and so many people have asked where they can learn how to make this game that we are now adding it to the Game Academy.

If Ben created Sheep Herder in 3 hours just imagine what he could achieve for you in 3 days!

If you want help with the design of your app, are looking for inspiration on features, or would just like a bit of assistance creating it, Ben is the ideal person. He has experience of designing and creating whole apps in a short space of time. Ben has a talent for striking and eye catching imagery, as well as for clean lines and useability.

Good planning can make the difference between a successful app efficiently coded, and a dog that never gets off the ground after running 3x over budget and turning your hair white. Let Ben help you get that essential first step done right.

This package gives you three full days of Ben, a whole extra day compared to the Kevin or Mark packages. You could get a lot of app created in three days!

If you want one of these guys, you need to go here and pledge for them - but remember we are only offering 5 each of these very special top pledges.

* Including growing a beard when the Kickstarter Campaign succeeds. On hearing this, I asked our resident graphics guy Steve to mock me up a selection of beards for you all to choose from. Vote now...
