To tweet or not to tweet – isn't that how everything gets started today? BBC tweets its breaking news. Justin Bieber says something inappropriate and has to apologize in a tweet. We may even tweet what we had for breakfast, too busy naval gazing to consider whether anyone will see it – let alone care.

Does anyone care about what we tweet? Yes, they do! In fact, Twitter is often used to take polls, surveys, and distribute prizes. It's particularly valuable to the coding community this week as The Hybrid Group's #code2014 tracks and analyzes our preferred programming languages via our tweets.

Now, I'll admit, as a Marketer looking at this list, I haven't heard of all of these languages before. I do recognize Javascript, Python, and Ruby, which are, of course, in the top four. I've also heard of "C++" and "Julia" in relation to programming, but for awhile I thought "Julia" was the name of someone working with C++. Oops. But guess what, LiveCode - our LiveCode - is Number 18! Yes, Number 18 in a long list of preferred programming languages. We're right after Apple's Swift and Objective-C and just before F#, Erlang, and Rust, which our development team recognizes with approval. We're definitely excited to see some of our favourite languages (PHP, C, Java) in the list and we're more than proud to be ranked highly among them.

It gets better. Voting for #code2014 doesn't end until tonight at 23:59 PST! So you can still tweet "#code2014 LiveCode" and your tweet will count towards moving LiveCode up the preferred programming language list! If you think I'm excited, you would be right.

But you don't tweet, you say? Why not? Why not join Twitter and follow us? We'll keep you up to speed on all the latest at LiveCode – including the anticipated LiveCode 8 Launch, coming this spring! This is the perfect opportunity to embrace your love of LiveCode and tell the world. Because if you like LiveCode – won't the Twitterverse like it, too?

When I love something, I have to tell people about it. Like my foldable Ray Bans or Serial, the best podcast ever – seriously. I have to tell everyone because I want them to know about the best options out there. I want them to know that I care about them. And that's what's great about Social Media. It allows us to tell everyone – all at once - about what we love. Like LiveCode.
So tweet. And get social.

Compass App

Write your own Compass app, with this step by step tutorial written by Robert Cailliau. See how easy it is to make a mobile app with LiveCode.

The idea is to demonstrate how little you need to get something working.  From there you can go on to make a visually-dazzling app if you wish, but that is not my goal...
