Gamejam

Sefro Jones aka Seth Morrow has launched the very first LiveCode Gamejam, open to submissions all this month and next month. You can join in on the website here.

From the website, here is what you need to know:

  • Create a game (or games) with LiveCode
  • Submit it (or them) between October 1st and November 30th
  • Play and rate other submissions!
  • Any platform welcome *
  • Most Importantly:  Give credit where credit is due.**

*If you are not including source stack(s), keep in mind that not all users are on the same platform, we recommend including standalones for as many platforms as possible.

** Freely available, external artwork and media may be used as long as it is licensed explicitly for such reuse (GPL, Creative Commons, Public Domain, etc.) The artwork authors should be credited. This applies to sounds and graphics likewise.

What can I submit?

You can submit ANY game that has been created in LiveCode. We want as many people as possible to submit games, so for the Very First LiveCode Game Jam we will allow any LiveCode created game, no matter when it was created. Even if it has been released elsewhere already, we still encourage you to submit it to the jam.

What are the prizes?

The prize for the highest ranking original* game submitted will win a 1 year Commercial Indy License of LiveCode!

Please do join in and submit your game, we're really looking forward to hearing from Seth on the progress of this exciting event!

New Faces

We have some new additions to our developer team, I'm pleased to be able to introduce them to you today.

Georgia

Georgia with a large heart

Meet Georgia Hutchings, a new software developer for LiveCode, doubling the number of our lady developers on the team. She is starting work on the IDE. Georgia recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Mathematical Physics. In her spare time, she tutors Maths and Physics and is a bit of a foodie who likes eating out at all the great restaurants in Edinburgh (and who wouldn't?). She enjoys wine and whisky tasting so should fit right in to the team.

Peter Brett

Peter Brett bucks the bearded developer trend

Peter Brett has also just joined the Engine team. Coming from a research background, Peter has previously worked on low-level software for controlling touch panels and Bluetooth chips, as well as the gEDA suite of open source electronic design tools. During his PhD research, he developed an algorithm that uses radar satellites to detect damaged buildings after earthquakes. He is currently a Visiting Researcher at Surrey Space Centre. Peter also enjoys cycling very fast up hills, playing loud classical music, and cooking.

We're delighted to welcome Peter and Georgia, and we're sure they are going to be great additions to the LiveCode Development Team!
