It feels like a lifetime has passed since we went open source in April last year. Hiring developers. Intensive planning sessions. Meeting after meeting. Launching a new joint venture with the Scottish First Minister in Beijing. Watching our engineers battle the source code. For me, it has been intense, exhilarating and also at times pressured. It is hard to imagine that we went open source less than a year ago. Today we celebrate another major milestone.
100,000 Forum Users
Our active user base, meaning people who use LiveCode regularly, has doubled since we went open source last April. Going in-step with that is that our LiveCode forum membership has passed 100,000 members for the first time.
Around the World
Our presence has been growing in many different places. We have users from countries small and large. For example, just today I heard about a presentation of LiveCode's benefits for economic growth in Armenia, being given at the UN! We now have users in well over 100 countries worldwide. We're seeing an increase in the number of people training LiveCode in some of these different regions. Our community on Stack Overflow is growing steadily. And we're increasingly regularly being featured in research reports, such as Vision Mobile and others that cover the mobile apps space. On the ground at a more anecdotal level, when I go to give a talk these days even to a non-tech audience, typically a good percentage of the audience has already heard of LiveCode.
Surprises to come?
All these statistics are particularly impressive when you consider the many years it took to build up our user base prior to going open source. Also, while we've started to deliver on our next-generation project goals, we still have plenty of amazing new technology in the pipeline. We have some new partnerships with strong potential in the pipeline too. And we even have perhaps a few surprises in store for you all. Suffice to say, we may have momentum now, but I believe the best is yet to come!
As we pass this milestone I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support. Without your help none of this would have been possible. We are here to serve you, our loyal community. We have our foot firmly on the accelerator. We intend to hire, expand and push even harder to build something insanely easy and totally unique. This is our year.
