Black Friday: The anticipated annual shopping day, defined by long lines, huge crowds, pouncing on the bargain you want before others spot it, and being homeless for the night sleeping outside your favourite retailer to get half off the latest flat screen TV.
It’s the time when we all get a little bit crazy, what do they put in that turkey? It was only the day before where gratitude was shown with friends and family but we will push our nearest and dearest out of the way if they attempt to grab that new digital camera that you will be leaving with!
Black Friday 2013, as it does every year, will test our endurance, wit, patience and, our sanity.
Short of showing up with banana peels, there are several ways you can prepare yourself for Black Friday. It’s Crazy, We are all Crazy, I’m Crazy, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
We have created a Black Friday 2013 survival guide, including tips & advice for those hitting the stores and some fantastic deals you can get whilst staying at home!
Helpful Black Friday 2013 Mobile Apps
You got a smartphone? Use it! It’s your best tool for the holiday shopping this season.
The majority of your favorite retailers have Twitter accounts, and you need to be following them. They will keep you informed of what is happening, what deals they are offering and it’s in real time! They may also have a free app that you can download for your smartphone. If you know you will be shopping in a particular store, check out their store app.
Other apps that are useful for Black Friday Shoppers are
- Zoomingo: an app that tells you about local sales and deals from over 70,000 outlets.
- Shopular: an app that sends you notifications when you are inside a store, alerting you to any available coupons and deals!
- PoachIt: an app that sifts through the detritus of invalid coupons to find you the ones that are valid. The app bills itself as the ultimate “shopping sidekick.”
Black Friday 2013: The Long Lines
Arguably the toughest part to a Black Friday is all the waiting around. Long lines at stores mean long waits; boredom is surely going to kick in.
There are a few things you can do in order to kill time while you wait. As we said before, your smartphone is also your best friend. You have access to games, movies, books, emails, and social media on this little device, don’t let the time you WILL spend waiting in lines go untapped.
Alternatively bring a book or bring a friend. Make it an event! Plan out where to go first, the best route to get there, and where to stop for those much needed coffee breaks.
