It's now only 7 months until our next annual conference, held this time in San Diego. From past experience, that 7 months is going to fly by and before you know it we'll all be meeting again to share knowledge, experience and life stories at RunRevLive.14.
The City
So why San Diego? What has it got to offer? Well, according to its official website, it is "America's Finest City". Wikipedia is a little more forthcoming, with a lot of interesting history. Apparently this city began as a small Spanish mission station, became a part of Mexico in 1821, and was admitted to the Union in 1850. It has two areas, the "old town" being the original mission site, and "downtown" being the newer bayfront area. More importantly, this beautiful city has an excellent climate and many local attractions as well as being easy to get to, making it ideal to host our conference. In September we can expect comfortable temperatures around 24 degrees centigrade (about 76 farenheight).
Attractions
Besides the conference, what else is there to do?
The answer seems to be plenty! You can bring the family and be sure that while you are busy soaking up knowledge, they are going to be busy sightseeing, shopping and generally having a great time. If you have time, visit San Diego Zoo and see the pandas, go to SeaWorld for dolphins, sharks and whales, take a cruise round the harbor, visit the fabulous Balboa Park gardens and of course the Kansas City Barbeque sports bar where scenes from Top Gun were filmed is right across the road from the hotel.
The Hotel
The conference is being held in the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Book a premium ticket to stay in this luxuriously imposing waterfront hotel. There is a swimming pool, spa, fitness center and several restaurants on site. The rooms look fabulous and have been tested for comfort by our conference organizer extraordinaire JoJo Hernandez.
Getting There
San Diego International Airport offers direct flights to a huge range of destinations both within and outside the US. You can fly direct from the UK, Paris and Frankfurt, as well as Tokyo and Hawaii.
The city is also well served by train, the Amtrak and Coaster trains run along the coastline and connect San Diego with Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura via Metrolink and the Pacific Surfliner. There are two Amtrak stations in San Diego, in Old Town and the Santa Fe Depot downtown.
You can drive there as well, there are several major highways connecting this city with the rest of the USA.
RunRevLive.14
As always this 4 day event will be jam packed with sessions, meetings, training workshops and opportunities to network with friends and colleagues. The challenge will be to find enough time outside the conference itself to take in some of the great stuff San Diego has to offer. Maybe you should consider booking a nice 2 week break...
